See you soon!

We are looking forward to having you at CUA next week.

If you are giving an oral presentation, you can bring your laptop or a USB drive and we will plug it in before your talk. We have 3 students volunteers, Jordan, Mike and Rafael who can help you setting up.

If you are presenting a poster, talk to anybody from the LOC, Andreza, Amy, Sandra or Duilia to arrange for that.

If you are driving to campus you will need to sign it at the registration desk for a daily pass. If you are coming for one day only, you will have to return the daily pass after you used. Please, make sure you do not forget to return that.

If you are staying on campus in one of the dorms, you will have to pay for parking at the Pryzbyla Center when you pick up your key. Each day costs $7.

We will have a small reception organized by the LOC (not catered) on Monday evening. Please, help us in any way you can.

All students will have the conference dinner paid by the workshop on Wednesday.

The group picture will be taken on Thursday before lunch.

The President of the University, Dr Garvey, will attend breakfast on Monday and participate in the opening ceremony. The Dean of Arts & Science, Dean Poos, will also be present.

We thank the School of Arts & Science and the Physics Department for the financial support for this meeting.

If you haven't seen it yet, there is an article in the Washingtonpost by one of the astronomers of the Vatican Observatory, Br Guy Consolmagno, in advance of the Workshop
Can the God particle lead us to God?

3rd (last) announcement

Dear Participant,

this the 3rd and last announcement of the Workshop The Evolving Universe II to be held at CUA in Washington DC in July 16 to 20.

We have a final program posted in our webpage (http://evolvinguniverse-cuadc.blogspot.com/) and the registered participants list. In case you are one of the few who have not registered yet, please, do it as soon as you can.

DC is very warm during this time of the year. Temperatures can be higher than 100F easily. We also have strong air conditioning! Plan accordingly.

If you are staying on campus, I am your point of contact. You may also contact Sandra Blevins, one of the LOC members, in charge of lodging 21behncke@cardinalmail.cua.edu. I will have keys for all dorms, you just need to find me. I will be staying in the dorms too. Send me an email to get my cellphone number. Please, also email me the time-date of your arrival so we can plan accordingly. Rooms will be available on Sunday after 3PM. If you can plan to be on campus at 3PM, we can go to the dorms together. We will be at the Pryz bldg front desk (see campus map).

Information on how to get to the university and campus map are given here http://www.cua.edu/about-cua/directions.cfm#getting-to-campus

The Physics Department is located on Hannan Hall. The auditorium is on 108 Hannan Hall. Parking is available in front of the building.

2nd Announcement

This is the Second Announcement of the Workshop Exploring the Nature of the Evolving Universe II to take place at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, USA, from July 16 to 20, 2012.

We ask everyone, including invited speakers, to REGISTER for the workshop in our webpage. Registration fee will cover breakfasts, coffee breaks, 3 lunches and other expenses. Participants can register per day ($45) or for the entire week ($200). Those who received a registration waiver are also required to register and click on the waiver button. You should have already received a letter with the waiver by now, in case you were granted one. Registration fee is the same every day. We want to avoid payment on the day of the conference. In case you are not able to pay online, let us know in advance and we will find a solution, but you do need to tell us in advance. The DEADLINE for registration is June 29th.

https://regstg.com/Registration/RegForm.aspx?rid=0a7429eb-cc5a-4e4b-aa34-6676ed10e5d9&action=add

Local participants are also required to say the dates they will arrive and leave in the registration form. That will help us knowing how many days each one plans to attend the meeting.

Preliminary version of the PROGRAM is listed at: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23735554/program_cuadc_1st%20Sheet1.pdf. Check the time, day and title of your talk and let us know if there is any problem. This file will be updated regularly.

WE ARE ACCEPTING REGISTRATION FOR POSTER PRESENTATION. POSTERS can be of any size. Any participant who has a poster presented in other conferences may bring it to the workshop too.

LODGING: We have blocked several rooms at CUA's dormitories and encourage anyone interested on that to register online and pre-pay using a credit card when filling the registration form. Check-in is Sunday and check-out is Friday. In case you need extra days, or prefer to stay in a hotel, CUA has provided us with a list of suggested hotels  http://evolvinguniverse-cuadc.blogspot.com/2012/04/hotels-in-area.html - confirmation is sent 24 hours later. DC is very touristic, book your hotel as soon as possible.

Foreign participants may need a visa to enter USA. We will be glad to provide you with a letter of acceptance in case you need that to apply for a visa or for funding.

We are planning on two afternoons free of workshop activities (Wednesday and Friday, no lunch will be provided on those days). Washington DC has a variety of options and we hope everyone will take this opportunity to do some networking and get to know the Nation's capital.

We are in the process of arranging the venue for the CONFERENCE DINNER (Wednesday 7pm) and each participant will pay for that independently. Depending on how much we collect on registration fees we will try to pay for conference dinner for all students.

If you know that you will not be able to attend the meeting, please, cancel your pre-registration so we can plan how many meals to order.

DIRECTIONS to the Physics Department at CUA are provided here http://faculty.cua.edu/sober/hannan_directions.htm

If you are taking public transportation, the best way to get to CUA is via subway. We are on the red line, 3 stations North of Union Station, one station before Fort Toten.

Here is the map of campus http://welcome.cua.edu/CUAMap.pdf
We are located on Hannan Hall and the Workshop will be on room 108, Herzfeld Auditorium.
Parking will be available right outside Hannan Hall.

A 3rd announcement will be emailed 10 days before the workshop. Meanwhile check our blog for updates and our Facebook group. http://evolvinguniverse-cuadc.blogspot.com/

Thanks and see you in Washington DC!
